Surprisingly it took a little while for the iPhone hacking community to work around Apple’s 3.0 mobile substrate, almost a month actually. What is even more interesting is that this is a premium Cydia application, with a charge of $2.

Release notes:

3G Unrestrictor is the premium successor of the popular VoIPover3G app for the iPhone. It allows you to go around the iPhone’s limitations while on 3G/EDGE like no VoIP, no downloading of files bigger than 10MB from the AppStore or iTunes Store, low quality YouTube videos and no Slingplayer. It allows those things by tricking applications into believing they are on WiFi, even though they are on 3G or EDGE.  It comes with a easy to use configuration app and offers many thing the original VoIPover3G cannot do. Unrestricting your favorite application is easier than ever! This works on all iPhone models including the 3GS on Firmware 3.0 or higher. In short 3G Unrestrictor is replacement (Paid Replacement) of VoipOver3G or Tricker3G.

At present 3G Unrestrictor supports the following applications:

  • Skype
  • Slingplayer
  • YouTube
  • AppStore
  • iTunes Store
  • Nimbuzz
  • Fring
  • Truphone
  • FriendCaller
  • SIPphone
